Core Focus

High Stakes Business and Personal Injury Litigation

WGL attorneys litigate a wide range of large business and personal injury cases in both state and federal courts. We assess complex cases and zero in on the best strategy to present them to judges and juries.

Condemnation and Land Litigation

WGL stands up for property owners whose land is being condemned for highways and other public projects to make sure the client receives just compensation for the land taken as well as the damage to the owner’s remaining land. Our attorneys represent property owners in other land litigation that can range from obtaining permits and approvals from state and local government to litigating those permits in the civil and administrative courts when necessary.

Utility Regulation and Litigation

The team at WGL has decades of combined experience representing water, electric, and solar utilities in litigation and in rate proceedings before the South Carolina Public Service Commission (PSC). WGL attorneys also handle appeals for utilities seeking appellate review of decisions of the PSC. Our approach to this unique area of practice is to work in cooperation with regulatory agencies while remaining ever mindful of each client’s specific need to operate and maintain a successful business.

Permitting and Litigation in the Administrative Law Court

WGL attorneys litigate administrative matters, including zoning issues, government permitting, and property tax valuations. Our team represents landowners in seeking permits and approvals from local governmental boards and commissions and from state agencies, such as SC DHEC. These include residential dock permits, marina permits, critical area permits, and beachfront land use permits. We are uniquely experienced to handle these matters at the initial permitting stage and through the appeals process to the Administrative Law Court, the South Carolina Court of Appeals, and, if necessary, the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Attorney Referrals

We are often associated by lawyers to work with them in high value cases or otherwise significant litigation. We always welcome the opportunity to discuss case referrals from other lawyers.
